    Competitive Gymnastics FAQ

    Numbers, hours, and travel information may be adjusted each season.


    Team placements take place annually in spring, normally in March. We will evaluate all pre-team athletes for placement. Recreational athletes interested in team can contact Coach Jenna during January or February for a 1:1 skill evaluation.


    If your athlete want to compete but isn’t quite ready yet you can still get in touch with Coach Jenna or Coach Mimi– we have year-long pre-team options available starting each spring for eligible athletes.


     At a minimum, athletes must have all of the following skills consistently to qualify for team:

     

    Minimum Skills to Compete Bronze

    Vault

    • Handstand flatback

    Bar

    • Straight Leg Pullover or Jump to Front Support
    • Cast with Correct Shape
    • Back Hip Circle with straight legs
    • A Dismount (Cast back to feet, undershoot, toe on, or squat on)

    Beam

    • A ½ turn on 2 feet (Squat, Pivot)
    • One Jump or Leap (Split Jump, Stretch)
    • An acro element (Lever,  ¾ Handstand, or Roll)
    • A Dismount (Tuck Jump to feet, cartwheel to side handstand, or round off)

    Floor

    • Two directly connected acro elements (double roll, roll connected to a cartwheel, cartwheel connected to walkover, etc)
    • One [single] acro element (roll, cartwheel, walkover, etc)
    • Chasse Leap with 60° Split connected to a Tuck Jump
    • 180° Passe turn


    Athletes train between 4 and 8 hours per week depending on their level. All athletes can expect 3 nights per week in the gym.


    Our [anticipated*] schedule for the 26-27 season includes:

    Bronze: 4.5 hrs/wk (1.5 hrs/day–avg 18hrs/mo)

    Silver: 6 hrs/wk (2 hrs/day–avg 24 hrs/mo)

    Gold / Platinum: 7.5 hrs/wk (2.5 hrs/day–avg 30hrs/mo)

    Event Specialists: 3 - 7.5 hrs/wk dependent on athlete needs


    *26-27 training hours are based on anticipated enrollment and athletes needs. Hours are subject to change up until contracts come out.


    Tuition is based on the athlete's competitive level.

    For the 26-27 season [projected*] tuition fees are as follows:

     

    Bronze: $165/mo

    Silver: $205/mo

    Gold / Platinum: $240/mo

    Event Specialists: Tuition based on hours


    *26-27 fees are based on anticipated training schedules and hours based on the projected enrollment. Rates are subject to change up until contracts come out.


    Competition fees vary by level, by how many meets the athlete attends, and by if the athlete is reusing some gear from the previous year.


    Competitive fees include: Entry fees to competitions, Floor routine music, Custom competition leotard, warm up jacket, slide shoes, and team competition bag, Warm up legging and shorts, Personalized award banners and pins, and personalized choreography sessions (Gold+ only).


    Approximate costs are as follows:

    Around $1,300 - $2,000 per year

    Payment plans are available each season


    In the 26-27 season we anticipate 5 meets plus state. We anticipate 3 local meets and 2 travel meets. (Travel meets typically mean Northern California, Las Vegas or Boise). In 2027 State will be held in Reno.


    Gold, Platinum, and Diamond athletes may qualify for Regionals; Regionals could be held anywhere in CA, NV, AZ, or UT.


    In the 26-27 season we anticipate our first meet to be in December, State Championships are in March, and Regionals are in April.

    Location: Grand Sierra Resort, 2500 E 2nd St, Reno


    January 23-25 Rose Gold Classic hosted by Byers Roseville (Silver-Diamond Only)

    Location: Roebbelen Center; 700 Event Center Drive, Roseville


    Feb 27 - Mar 1 Drop It Like It's Hot with Katelyn Ohashi hosted by LR Productions

    Location: Tahoe Blue Event Center 75 U.S. 50 Stateline, Nevada


    March 13-15 Nevada State Championships Hosted by Desert Gymcats

    Location: TBD Las Vegas


    April 24-26 Region 1 Xcel Regional Championships by Black Diamond Gymnastics

    (Only for Gold+ who qualify at State Championships)

    Location: Legacy Events Center; 25 N. Sports Park Way Farmington, UT


    The travel meets we choose to attend change annually based on how the dates fall and the location of State.

    →All invitational dates are only projections and subject to correction when formal date announcements are released - Normally around August. Meet schedules are always subject to change, if needed, due to unforeseen circumstances.
